Dharmanagar, Tripura, 24th of March 2026 : A unique night cricket tournament titled “Sanghati Cricket Tournament” is set to be in the Kameshwar Lalbazar area under Dharmanagar subdivision of North Tripura. The initiative, taken by local organizers, aims to create a festive atmosphere in the locality while encouraging youth to take an active interest in sports.
According to the organizers, the tournament will be conducted in a completely different format. Each team will consist of 8 players, and matches will be played at night, making it an exciting spectacle for spectators. One of the most distinctive features of the tournament is the auction system—registered players will be selected and teams formed through a bidding process.
Players from both Tripura and neighboring Assam have been invited to participate. Interested players must register their names, after which they will be included in teams through the auction process. Matches will be played in an 8-over format, including a super over to heighten the excitement.
Special attractions of the tournament include innovative rules such as the “Two-Step First Ball” along with several other engaging elements, which audiences can enjoy live at the venue. Notably, the tournament is open to participants of all age groups, allowing both experienced and young players to compete together on the same platform.The prize pool is also quite attractive.
The winning team will receive ₹50,000, while the runners-up will be awarded ₹7,000. One of the organizers, Nitish Dey, stated, “We want the youth to move towards a healthy lifestyle through sports. We also plan to expand such initiatives on a larger scale in the future.”Other members of the organizing committee were also present at the announcement.
