Agartala, Tripura, 5th of April, 2026 : It is with profound sorrow that, the National Institute of Technology Agartala mourns the untimely demise of Shri Abhinav Singh, a student of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. He was in his second semester and a resident of Udyog Nagar, Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh.
On 03 April 2026, Shri Abhinav Singh, along with three friends, visited Dumboor. While swimming in Dumboor Lake on the morning of 04 April, despite being an avid swimmer, he tragically drowned around 12:00 noon. His friends made every effort to save him, but unfortunately, he could not be saved.
With the assistance of local police, Fire Service, and SDMA, his body was recovered at approximately 05:30 pm on 04 April 2026 and brought to Gandachara Hospital for necessary formalities.
The Institute remains in close contact with the bereaved family and the local administration during this difficult time. NIT Agartala extends its heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and peers of Shri Abhinav Singh. His loss is deeply felt by the entire NIT Agartala community.
