Silchar, Assam, 22nd of November 2025 : The North East International Summit, a two-day flagship academic event hosted by Assam University Silchar, concluded with remarkable success, drawing wide participation from universities, experts, policymakers and international delegates. The Summit, convened by Dr. Lalzo S. Thangjom and Coordinated by Prof. M. Tineshowri created a dynamic platform for regional dialogue on sustainability, social equity, innovation and development.

The successful conduct of the Summit was made possible due to the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. Rajiv Mohan Pant, vision and encouragement and the generous support of several key institutions. Foremost among them was the North Eastern Council (NEC), Ministry of DoNER, Government of India, whose financial sponsorship, administrative coordination and continuous guidance formed the backbone of the event.
NEC officials including Shri L. S. Gangte, Shri Bamin Tarang and Shri Satinder Kr. Bhalla provided needed logistical, institutional and operational support, enabling the Summit to be organised with academic depth and professional excellence.

The Assam Pollution Control Board (APCB), under the visionary leadership of Dr. Arup Kumarr Misra, played a crucial role as an institutional partner. APCB supported the Summit through finance and its expertise, mentoring and sustained engagement on environmental issues, aligning perfectly with the event’s core themes of conservation and sustainability.
Main support from Assam University’s administrative units including the Vice Chancellor’s Secretariat, Finance Section, Computer Centre, Administrative Office and Department of Social Work further strengthened the organisation of the Summit. The collaborative spirit displayed by all sponsoring and partnering institutions ensured a seamless, impactful and academically rich event.

The Summit witnessed strong participation from scholars and faculty members of Illinois state University, USA, Rajsahi University, Bangladesh, Mizoram University, Delhi University, Dhaka University, and all major Northeastern universities including Assam University, Arunachal Pradesh University, North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), Tezpur University, Manipur University, Nagaland University, Tripura University, and Rajiv Gandhi University.
The event also saw active contributions from TISS Mumbai, Central University of Tamil Nadu, Central University of South Bihar, Sikkim University, Sikkim Manipal University, USTM, Assam Down Town University, Assam Don Bosco University, Assam Royal Global University, Don Bosco University, Tura Christian College (Meghalaya) and West Bengal Degree College, Malda, among others. A number of international scholars participated online, expanding the Summit’s intellectual reach and adding global perspectives.
In all there are eight technical sessions spanning across carefully selected themes. Across eight technical sessions, presenters addressed pressing issues related to:
Social inequality and empowerment, Conservation, displacement and indigenous knowledge.

Women and youth development, Sustainable innovation and economic growth, Climate resilience, wetland management, and biodiversity, Handloom, handicraft and sustainable livelihoods, Cultural psychology and entrepreneurship, Infrastructure, connectivity and regional resilience
Convenor Dr. Lalzo S. Thangjom and Coordinator Prof. M. Tineshowri Devi expressed gratitude to all supporting institutions, participants and volunteers for their collective effort in making the Summit a landmark academic event. Faculty, research scholars, AUSU, housekeeping teams and volunteers including the Assam University Badminton Club were recognised for their dedicated service.
With rich academic deliberations, strong sponsorship support and vibrant national and international participation, the North East International Summit emerged as a major step forward in promoting sustainable, inclusive and collaborative development across the region.
