Power Outages After Light Rain Leave Area In Darkness, Residents Express Anger Over Electricity Service.

Dharmanagar, Tripura, 15th of March, 2026 : Residents of a section of the Padmapur area in Dharmanagar town of North Tripura have alleged that even light rainfall leads to prolonged power outages. According to locals, electricity remains unavailable for most of the day and often throughout the night, despite the power lines reportedly being in proper condition. As a result, residents are facing severe inconvenience.Local people claim that whenever there is light rain or slightly bad weather, electricity goes off and takes a long time to be restored. In some cases, residents have to spend the entire night in darkness. They also allege that despite repeated complaints, the electricity department has failed to provide any permanent solution to the issue.

Residents further stated that power supply is sometimes disconnected overnight in the name of repair work and is only restored the following day. They questioned the nature of such maintenance work, saying it causes significant problems for households, especially those with sick members and small children.Due to what residents describe as negligence by the electricity department, students are facing difficulties in their studies, while business activities and daily life are also being severely affected. Many residents said the situation becomes even more unbearable during the rainy season.Locals allege that despite informing the electricity department several times, no effective steps have been taken to resolve the problem. They have pointed fingers at the department’s negligence in maintaining a stable power supply.The residents have demanded immediate intervention from the electricity department and urged the authorities to investigate the matter and take necessary measures to provide a permanent solution to this long-standing problem.
