Dharmanagar, Tripura, 22nd of March, 2026 : The Mangal Khali area after the accused in the tragic attack that took place on Eid day were not arrested even after considerable time. On Sunday morning, angry local residents staged a road blockade, bringing traffic on the important Dharmanagar–Panisagar route to a complete halt.
According to local sources, more than a hundred people sat on the road demanding the immediate arrest of the accused and protesting against the alleged inaction of the police. The blockade caused severe inconvenience to commuters, disrupting normal movement in the area. As the situation grew tense, a large police force from Dharmanagar Police Station reached the spot.
The Officer-in-Charge, Mina Debbarma, personally intervened and held discussions with the protesters. She assured them that the investigation would be expedited and that the accused would be arrested within a specified timeframe.Following the assurance from the police, the protesters gradually calmed down and eventually withdrew the blockade. Traffic movement returned to normal soon after.
However, tension still prevails in the area. Police personnel have been deployed to prevent any untoward incident. Local residents remain firm in their demand for the immediate arrest and strict punishment of those responsible.
