Dharmanagar, Tripura, 23rd of March 2026 : Raising their voices against long-standing deprivation and uncertainty, family members of Special Police Officers (SPOs) have come forward with their demands. On Monday around 11 a.m., nearly a hundred families gathered in Dharmanagar and submitted a deputation to the North District Superintendent of Police, Avinash Rai. Along with this, they also handed over a memorandum outlining their various demands.According to the participants, many SPO personnel have been serving with dedication for 20 to 25 years, yet they have not been regularized. As a result, despite spending a significant portion of their working lives in service, they continue to be deprived of their rightful benefits. They further pointed out that SPOs receive significantly lower salaries compared to constables.

The lack of adequate medical facilities, absence of insurance, allowances, DA-TA benefits, and uncertainty regarding financial security and pension after retirement have become major concerns. Family members expressed deep anxiety about their future due to these issues. Superintendent of Police Avinash Rai listened carefully to all the grievances and demands. He assured the representatives that the matter would be given due importance and forwarded promptly to the concerned higher authorities. He also promised that necessary steps would be taken toward resolving the issues.Following the deputation, a sense of optimism was visible among the SPO families. They believe that the administration’s positive response could be an important step toward resolving their long-pending problems.
