Agartala, Tripura, 22nd of March, 2026 : The 2nd Annual General Meeting of The Philosophical Society (TPS), Tripura has been organised in Maharaja Bir Bikram Shatabarshiki Bhawan, Tripura University, Suryamaninagar, with gracious presence of Prof. Shyamal Das, Hon’ble Vice-Chanceller, Tripura University on Sunday (22nd March 2026).
In the inaugural session Dr. Jakap Halam, General Secretary, TPS, highlighted that TPS was not formed only to propagate the Philosophy but to save a discipline which promote ethical thinking, rational decision making and promote ethical values in modern society. In the welcome address, Dr. Sudip Goswami, President, TPS highlighted the significance of Philosophy in present times and motivate others to think positively in the realm of philsophy.
Dr. Sucharita Chaudhury delivered lecture on “Consciousness: The key to Spiritual Journey through Material Life. She stressed that spirituality is not out of the world but attain it through daily moral human behaviour of an individual in the society. She highlighted the contradiction between our thinking and behaviour that lead us to introspect that heaven is not somewhere above but it can be found in this world. True spiritual life can create a heaven on this earth. She also highlighted the often spirituality is confused with religion.
Hon’ble Vice-Chanceller during his gracious address stated the human mind is always inquisitive to know the unknown. Life is a story which never ends. The inaugural session concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by the General Secretary, TPS, Dr. Jakap Halam.
The Business Session commences with the Annual Report presentation by Dr. Jakap Halam followed by Annual Financial Report by treasurer Dr. Prashant Ojha.
There were many resolutions that were passed during the Annual General Meeting. Some of the points were such as to award a fellowship to two deserving meritorious students, conduct Bi-Monthly Online seminar. After the Business Session the old committee was resolved and new members were elected. The reformation process was conducted by Election officer Dr. Sucharita Choudhury, Advisory Committee member and Dr Mohan Debbarma, Advisory Member. Dr. Sudip Goswami, And Dr. Jakap Halam elected unopposed as President and General Secretary.
The Meeting ended with vote of thanks presented by Dr. Samir Kumar Diabagh, the Vice-President, TPS.
