Khowai, Tripura, 15th of September, 2025 : In the incident, journalist Mithun Acharjee said that yesterday, Rajat Pant, District Magistrate & Collector sent him a message on Messenger using a fake ID with a picture of him, saying that a friend of the District Magistrate, a commandant working in the CRPF, would sell old furniture worth four lakh rupees for 95 thousand rupees. He also called him on WhatsApp in the name of the District Magistrate and the name of the CRPF officer.


After this incident, journalist Mithun Acharya, suspecting the whole matter, met the Rajat Pant, District Magistrate & Collector today and the District Magistrate said that it was a fake ID and later informed the District Police Officer. Journalist Mithun Acharjee later filed a written complaint with Khowai Police Station regarding the whole matter. Journalist Mithun gave a message to the public to be more careful and the District Magistrate and District Police Officer gave a message to all the citizens to be careful for everyone.
