Agartala, Tripura, 13th of August 2025 : A successful three-day thematic training on fish farming was held at Kanchanpur Town Hall from 10th to 12th September 2025, organized by SF Kanchanpur under Fisheries PIU, TRESP. The programme brought together 15 Fishery Producer Groups representing around 200 beneficiaries from rural areas, aiming to enhance their skills and improve aquaculture practices. The event was inaugurated in the presence of Shri Sailendra Nath, MBC Dasda Kanchanpur, with Ms. Dipali Reang as the chief guest. Members of the Zonal Development Committee, North Zone, as well as representatives from the Sub-Zonal Development Committee, Laljhuri, and other respected social leaders including Shri Parthajoy Reang, Shri Ajanto Kumar Chowdhury, Shri Rabindra Kar, Shri Tapassindhu Nath, and Shri Arun Nath participated in the event and extended their support. The efforts of SF Kanchanpur, led by Shri Animesh Chakma, were also widely appreciated by all stakeholders.

The training sessions were expertly facilitated by Ms. Sangita Paul, District Manager Fisheries (North & Unakuti), TRESP, and Mr. Bidesh Naskar, TSA Project Executive, North District. Ms. Paul’s dedication, commitment, and hands-on leadership played a crucial role in engaging the participants and addressing their challenges. The training focused on real issues faced by fish farmers and included sessions on nursery pond management, water quality monitoring, the importance of plankton, seed production techniques, harvesting methods, market linkages, and polyculture systems. Practical demonstrations on fish feed and essential equipment further strengthened the participants’ knowledge, enabling them to apply these techniques in their own ponds and farms.
The programme not only improved technical understanding but also encouraged participants to actively discuss their field-level challenges and explore sustainable solutions. Ms. Sangita Paul’s leadership was particularly appreciated, as her unwavering support and tireless efforts helped ensure the success of the event. The involvement of TRESP and TSA staff, community facilitators, trainers, and beneficiaries was also recognized as a key factor in the programme’s smooth execution and wide outreach.

This initiative is seen as a significant step toward empowering rural fish farmers, promoting self-employment, and improving livelihood opportunities across the region. With the collective efforts of all involved, the training is expected to enhance productivity and strengthen sustainable aquaculture practices.
