TRESP’s Steadfast March Into Tribal Habitations: Local Produce Shines At Khowai SARAS Fair.

Agartala, Tripura, 5th of February, 2026 : The Tripura Rural Economic Growth and Service Delivery Project (TRESP) marked a strong and meaningful presence at the 3rd District Level SARAS Fair, held from 4th to 6th February 2026 at the Chaitra Fair Ground, Khowai, reinforcing its steady outreach to tribal habitations and grassroots producers.

The Khowai DPMU TRESP team actively participated in the fair with two dedicated stalls, showcasing and selling a wide range of fresh agricultural produce sourced directly from Producer Groups (PGs) operating in the Tulashikhar and Mungiakami Blocks. The stalls drew considerable attention from visitors, reflecting growing trust and recognition of PG-led agriculture under TRESP.

A vibrant display of seasonal vegetables—including brinjal, bottle gourd, bitter gourd, pumpkin, maize, mustard leaf, chilli, and other local produce—highlighted the collective efforts of tribal farmers. Producer Groups from Tulashikhar Block such as Hamjakma PG, Rose PG, Khumtoya PG, Yaphagh PG, Yaphang PG, Mwchang PG, Moon PG, Madhu PG, Laisa PG, Sunu Women PG, Khumber PG, and Shalka PG contributed pumpkin, brinjal, bitter gourd, mustard, and maize. From Mungiakami Block, Jora Agriculture PG, Larima PG, Salswakang PG, Haping PG, and Masingsachwlang PG supplied bottle gourd, brinjal, and chilli, showcasing the diversity and productivity of tribal farming systems.

The fair was inaugurated by Shri Animesh Debbarma, Hon’ble Minister, in the august presence of Shri Abhadananda Baidya, ADM, Khowai District, adding prestige and encouragement to the participating Producer Groups.

The coordinated efforts of all Block Programme Managers of Khowai District, along with sectoral experts of TRESP, ensured seamless participation and made the event a grand success. Beyond sales, the SARAS Fair served as a powerful platform for market linkage, livelihood promotion, and visibility of PG-based activities, reaffirming TRESP’s commitment to inclusive growth.

Through such initiatives, TRESP continues its steadfast journey into tribal habitations, empowering Producer Groups, strengthening local economies, and bringing rural produce from fields to fairgrounds with pride and purpose.
