Agartala, Tripura, 19th of September, 2024 : Tripura Journalists Union delegation have met with Hon’ble Governor of Tripura Indrasena Reddy Nallu and submitted memorandum to him over the issue of murders of Sudip Dutta Bhowmik and Shantanu Bhowmik at Raj Bhavan, Agartala on Thursday (19th September, 2024).

The memorandum alleged that two journalists were killed in the state in 2017, but the culprits have not been punished. Those involved in the murder of Sudip Datta Bhowmik have also been granted bail. On the other hand, the investigation process of journalist Shantanu Bhowmik’s murder has not actually started. The Tripura Journalists Union has expressed its dissatisfaction with the progress of their investigation despite the fact that the investigation has been handed over to the CBI. It may be mentioned that after the killing of the two journalists, a delegation of journalists from the state met the then President of the country and the Union Home Minister and signed the memorandum. Later, the investigation was handed over to the CBI, but no progress was made in the investigation. The governor has assured to take necessary steps in this regard.
In the delegation there were Advisor Sayed Sajjad Ali, President Pranab Sarkar, General Secretary Alak Ghosh, Abhishek Dey and members Samaresh Dey, Zakir Hossain and many others remained present.
