11th State Conference Of Tripura Tea Workers’ Union Concludes In Dharmanagar.

Dharmanagar, Tripura, 11th of September, 2026 : The 11th State Conference of the Tripura Tea Workers’ Union concluded with a renewed pledge to intensify the movement for the rightful demands and rights of tea workers. At the second-day session of the conference, held on Friday (11th September, 2026) at the Sudhamay Majumdar Mancha, a new 45-member state committee was unanimously formed. Amitabha Dutta was elected president, while Paresh Paik was re-elected secretary.

The second-day session began at 8 a.m., with the draft report receiving priority at the outset. During the first phase, nine delegates spoke one after another on the report. Their discussions highlighted several important issues concerning the current situation of tea workers, their various problems, rightful dues and entitlements, and the future course of the workers’ movement. The speakers stressed the need for a stronger and more united movement in the interests of the workers.The session was presided over by a presidium comprising Ramlati Goala, Makhon Lal Pal and Dhaneshwar Nayak. During the lengthy discussion, the views and concerns raised by the delegates were heard attentively.

Former Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar attended the conference as an invited guest. He spoke about the present context of the workers’ movement and the problems faced by tea workers. In his address, he particularly stressed the importance of a united movement to safeguard the interests of working people.The main speaker was Manik Dey, state president of CITU. He spoke in detail about the rights of tea workers and their current situation, and called for strengthening the organised movement to secure their legitimate demands. CITU state secretary Shankar Prasad Dutta, along with other leaders, was also present on the dais.Paresh Paik responded to the various questions and issues raised during the delegates’ discussions. Following his reply, the process of forming the new state committee began in the final phase of the conference.

A 45-member new state committee was announced unanimously. Amitabha Dutta was named president, while Paresh Paik was entrusted with the responsibility of secretary once again. The announcement of the new committee generated enthusiasm among the delegates at the conference venue.

The new leadership now faces the task of expanding the movement for the demands and rights of tea workers. The conference concluded with a resolve to launch stronger programmes in the coming days to secure the workers’ legitimate demands.

The second-day session ended at 11:30 a.m. The tea workers’ community is now looking towards the organisation’s forthcoming programmes and the future direction of its movement under the new committee.
