Sonamura, Tripura, 9th of June 2026 : On the basis of secret information Sonamura police, recovered and seized total 21 kg 70 grams dry Cannabis (Ganja), at Sonamura Police Station under Sepahijala District on Monday (8th June, 2026).

According to report, on a secret information Sonamura police conducted a raid at the residence of a suspected drug peddler located in Ward No. 6 of Durgapur under Sonamura Police Station and recovered a total of 21 kg 70 grams of dried cannabis (ganja). The contraband was found packed in ten black tape-wrapped packets stored inside two sacks.
Interacted with media Inspector Tapas Das, Officer in Charge Sonamura Police Station said the suspect escaped before officers reached the location. Subsequently, a case under the NDPS Act was registered at Sonamura Police Station regarding the seizure of the narcotics.
As the investigation progresses, police are following up on new intelligence that may expose a wider drug trafficking network and lead to additional arrests in the area.
Officer in Charge Sonamura Police Station also stated that such operations against illegal contrabands would continue next day.
