Agartala, Tripura, 12th of May, 2025 : 2569th Buddha Purnima Celebration at Venuvan Buddha Vihara on Monday (12th May, 2025). Buddha Purnima during Vaishakhai month is celebrated as 2569th birth anniversary of Gautam Buddha. Buddha Jayanti is being celebrated across the country commemorating his contributions to the establishment of world peace. In the presence of many distinguished dignitaries Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha inaugurated the event by lighting the lamp.
Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha offered prayers Lord Buddha on the occasion of 2569th Vaishakhi Buddha Purnima at Venuvan Buddha Vihara, Kunjaban, Agartala, Tripura today.
Addressing the celebration ceremony of 2569th Buddha Purnima Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said that Lord Gautam Buddha spread the message of non-violence, love, compassion and peace all over the world. The State Government is working for the welfare of the people by following this message of Lord Buddha. The Buddha Purnima festival is now not limited to Buddhists only, but is significant for all peace-loving people around the world. This day is also celebrated as the Triple Blessing Day, as it is on the full moon day of Vaishakhi that Buddha received enlightenment, attained enlightenment, and passed away.
The Chief Minister said that the words of Lord Buddha must be applied in all our lives. We must keep our conduct and behaviour in check. Only then will the philosophy of Lord Buddha be realized. He said that India has always believed in the philosophy of peace and non-violence. But if any kind of attack is done to the country, it will be dealt with sternly.He said that the Present Government of the state is working on various plans for the development of religious tourist centers. These religious tourist centers are also playing an important role in the development of tourism in the State.
Amidst the distinguished dignitaries participants there were Hon’ble Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Dipak Majumder, West Tripura District, District Magistrate and Collector of Dr. Vishal Kumar, Swami Shubhakarananda, Secretary of the Ramakrishna Mission, Ven. Dr. Dhammapiya, Founder & Chancellor of Dhamma Dipa International Buddhist University and may other distinguished dignitaries were present in the celebration ceremony.
