2nd Foundation Day Celebration Of Agartala Govt. Nursing College.

Agartala, Tripura, 2nd of August, 2025 : With the initiative of Agartala Government Nursing College organized 2nd Foundation Day Foundation Day ceremony at Florence Nightangle Auditorium, Agartala Govt. Nursing College, IGM Hospital Complex, Agartala, Tripura on Friday (1st August, 2025). In the presence of many distinguished dignitaries Hon’ble Finance, Planning & Coordination, Information Technology Minister Pranajit Singha Roy inaugurated the events.

Nurses play an important role in giving medicine to the patients at the right time, taking care of them, as well as providing them moral support. Even when an emergency arises, nurses play a special role. Therefore, the present state government has taken a special initiative for the improvement of nursing services in the state, besides the improvement of health infrastructure. As a part of this effort, the old nursing college has been upgraded to B.Sc. Nursing College in the financial year 2023-24. On August 1, Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy said this while inaugurating the second Foundation Day celebration programme of Agartala Government Nursing College at I.G.M. Hospital. The program was organized at the Florence Nightingale Auditorium of Nursing College.

While speaking, Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy said that Chief Minister of the state, Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha, is himself a doctor. He is also holding the portfolio of the health department. The Chief Minister is working with special emphasis on the development of health services in every district of the state. Health centers are being modernized with an aim to ensure that the people of each district get proper health services in their own district. Special initiatives have been taken to ensure that patients get the services of specialist doctors within the state instead of going to other states. Paying tribute to Florence Nightingale, the Finance Minister called on nurses to dedicate themselves more to the service of patients. He said that families of patients do have special trust in the nurses at the health centres. He expressed hope that this trust will remain unbroken. He wished the overall success of the nursing college.

The Secretary of the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Kiran Gitte, spoke as the guest of honor at the event. The Director of Department of Family Welfare and Preventive Medicine Dr. Anjan Das, and the Director of Medical Education, Professor (Dr.) Haraprasad Sharma, spoke as special guests at the event. The Director of the Department of Health, Professor (Dr.) Tapan Majumder, presided over the event. The Principal of the Nursing College, Dr. Maitree Chowdhury, delivered the welcome speech. The progress of the Nursing College in the last 2 years was highlighted through a documentary screening at the event. Successful meritorious students of the college were felicitated for their excellent performance in the first, second and third semesters. In addition, four retired nurses were also felicitated Finance Minister Pranajit Singha and other dignitaries presented them with felicitation mementoes. The guests unveiled the cover of the college’s annual magazine.
