New Delhi, Delhi/Agartala, Tripura, 19th of January, 2026 : 48th Kokborok Day was observed with due solemnity and enthusiasm at Tripura Bhavan, New Delhi.

The programme was graced by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tripura, Dr. Manik Saha, along with Hon’ble MP Rajib Bhattacharjee, Hon’ble Tribal Welfare, Handloom, Handicrafts & Sericulture, Statistics Minister Bikash Debbarma, Hon’ble SC Welfare, ARD, Fisheries Minister Sudhangshu Das, Hon’ble Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Tinku Roy, Hon’ble Industries & Commerce, Jail (Home), OBC Welfare Minister Santana Chakma, Hon’ble Higher Education Minister Kishor Barman, MLA Shri Bhagaban Das, President of Agartala Press Club Pranab Sarkar and other distinguished dignitaries were also present on the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, Hon’ble Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha highlighted the rich cultural and linguistic diversity of Tripura. He stated that the state is home to 19 tribal communities along with several sub-tribes, each contributing to Tripura’s vibrant heritage through diverse languages and traditions. He noted that Kokborok is spoken by a large section of the population and plays a vital role in the cultural identity of the state.

The Chief Minister reaffirmed the Government of Tripura’s commitment to the protection, preservation and promotion of Kokborok language and the indigenous heritage of the state, emphasizing inclusive development while safeguarding cultural roots.
The celebration of Kokborok Day at Tripura Bhavan reflected the collective resolve to honour linguistic diversity and strengthen cultural unity among the people of Tripura.
