Mumbai, Maharashtra, 7th of September, 2026 : Moving mathematics beyond textbooks and classrooms and connecting it with quick thinking, concentration and confidence, Mumbai witnessed a unique showcase of mathematical talent. More than 7,000 children from across India participated in the 25th UCMAS National Competition, held at the CIDCO Exhibition and Convention Centre in Vashi, showcasing their impressive mathematical skills.

Held on September 5 and 6, the national-level event brought together students from 28 states and 8 Union Territories. The challenge before the young participants was intense—they had to solve 200 mathematical questions in just 8 minutes. Using abacus and mental calculation techniques, the children demonstrated remarkable speed and accuracy, along with strong focus, memory, visualisation and problem-solving abilities.

The event was attended by Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker Sachin Ahir, along with senior international officials from UCMAS. More than 14,000 parents and visitors gathered to encourage and cheer for the young participants.

The Grand Award Ceremony recognised and honoured children who delivered outstanding performances in the competition. The event demonstrated that mathematics is not merely a game of numbers, but also a powerful exercise in sharp thinking, concentration and self-confidence.
