Dharmanagar, Tripura, 26th of January, 2026 : The 77th Republic Day of India was celebrated with great dignity, enthusiasm, and patriotic fervour at the BBI Ground in Dharmanagar, North Tripura. Organised with the cooperation of the administration and the general public, the event witnessed a festive atmosphere from early morning. The large gathering of people transformed the national celebration into an emotional and memorable occasion. The programme began with the hoisting of the national tricolour. The Honourable Minister of Industries & Commerce, Jail (Home) and OBC Welfare Departments of Tripura, Ms. Santana Chakma, ceremonially unfurled the national flag. This was followed by a disciplined parade and salute by the assembled contingents, deepening the sense of patriotism among the spectators. Various security forces and volunteer organisations took part in the parade, adding solemnity and grandeur to the ceremony.

Addressing at the event Minister Santana Chakma addressed the gathering. In her speech, she highlighted the history of India’s freedom struggle, the dignity of the Constitution, and the sacrifices of countless martyrs. She remarked that when the tricolour flutters in the sky, it is not merely a flag—it symbolises the history of freedom, the strength of democracy, and the ideals of the Constitution. On this auspicious day, she conveyed her heartfelt greetings and respect to the people of Tripura and the entire nation. The celebrations continued with colourful cultural programmes presented by various cultural organisations and students from different schools. As part of the Republic Day meritorious individuals and institutions were honoured with awards for their notable contributions, as done every year. Recognitions in the fields of education, social service, sports, and public welfare were among the major highlights of the event.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Chairperson of the North Tripura Zilla Parishad, Aparna Nath, Chairperson of Dharmanagar Municipal Council, Mitali Das Sen, Superintendent of Police, North Tripura, Abhinash Rai IPS, District Magistrate and Collector of North Tripura District Chandni Chandran, along with senior administrative officials and other distinguished personalities. Overall, through the collective efforts of the administration and the public, the 77th Republic Day celebrations at BBI Ground, Dharmanagar were conducted peacefully and with great success. The day once again reaffirmed that unity in diversity is the true strength of India.
