Dharmanagar, Tripura, 16th of February, 2026 : The annual firing competition organized by the North Tripura District Police was successfully concluded amid great enthusiasm and excitement. Police personnel, both men and women, from various police stations and units across the district actively participated in the event. Conducted in a disciplined environment under strict safety protocols, the competition stood as a shining example of the district police’s professional skill and preparedness.
Participants demonstrated their marksmanship by accurately hitting targets from designated distances. Intense competition was witnessed in both the men’s and women’s categories among the top shooters. The panel of judges evaluated the scores based on predetermined criteria and selected the winners accordingly. During the closing ceremony, the Superintendent of Police of North Tripura district, Avinash Rai, presented the Marksmanship Trophy and mementos to the winners. He stated that through regular training and skill enhancement initiatives, efforts are being made to make the force more capable and modern. Such competitions not only enhance individual proficiency but also strengthen the overall operational readiness and confidence of the force.He further emphasized that, in addition to maintaining law and order, physical fitness and marksmanship skills are crucial for taking swift and precise action in any emergency situation. With this objective in mind, the district police regularly organizes training sessions, drills, and skill assessment programs.
A senior police official of the district noted that the active participation of women police personnel has further strengthened the overall capability of the force. Their performance in the competition clearly demonstrates that both men and women are equally skilled and committed to their duties.
