Dharmanagar, Tripura, 21st of February, 2026 : Serious allegations have surfaced regarding the poor state of emergency services at Dharmanagar District Hospital, one of the most important healthcare centers in North Tripura. In particular, the suspension of CT scan services has reportedly left accident victims and their families facing extreme hardship and anxiety. On Saturday, a person who was seriously injured in a road accident was rushed to the hospital. After conducting a preliminary examination, the attending doctor advised that an urgent CT scan was necessary considering the patient’s condition. However, when family members approached the CT scan department, they were informed that the machine had been out of order for several days.A close relative of the injured person alleged that upon informing the doctor about the non-functional machine, they were told that the CT scan was extremely urgent and would have to be done in Agartala. This created additional pressure on the family to shift the critically injured patient nearly 180 kilometers away, putting them in a state of severe distress and helplessness.

It is noteworthy that the Chief Minister of Tripura, Manik Saha, also holds the Health portfolio. Despite this, the breakdown of such an essential emergency service at a major district hospital has raised questions among the public regarding the preparedness and infrastructure of the state’s healthcare system.Local residents pointed out that as the only major government hospital in North Tripura district, Dharmanagar District Hospital caters to a large population. If vital services like CT scans remain non-functional, patients suffering from accidents or serious illnesses may face life-threatening risks. No official response has yet been received from the Health Department. Relatives of the injured patient, along with local residents, have demanded immediate repair of the machine and restoration of full emergency services at the hospital.
