Managing Committee Of The Agartala Press Club Meet Director General Of Police (DGP).

Agartala, Tripura, 24th of April 2026 : The Agartala Press Club has demanded comprehensive security for journalists working in the State. On Friday (24th April, 2026), a five-member delegation from the Agartala Press Club met Director General of Police Anurag Dhankar at the police headquarters as part of a pre-scheduled program. A five-member delegation of the executive committee, led by Agartala Press Club President Pranab Sarkar, met the Director General of Police today.

The delegation urged the police administration to take all necessary measures to ensure the safety of journalists. They also expressed concern over the misuse of press stickers. Additionally, they demanded the provision of all-weather press jackets for journalists.

A section of photojournalists has to work late into the night. In this regard, a demand has also been made to increase police patrolling in the capital Agartala as well as in subdivision towns.

The issues raised by members during the executive committee meeting and the annual general meeting of the Agartala Press Club were also openly presented before the Director General of Police and other officials.

The delegation also urged the police administration to curb the spread of misleading information on social media in the name of content creators.

After the deputation, Pranab Sarkar stated that the Director General of Police expressed agreement with the journalists’ demands and assured that necessary steps would be taken.

Amidst the other journalists there were Vice President of the Agartala Press Club Chitra Roy, Joint Secretaries of the Agartala Press Club Kamal Chowdhury and Abhishek Dey, and Executive Member of the Agartala Press Club Abhishek Debbarma.

Senior police officials were also present during the meeting with the Director General of Police at the police headquarters conference hall today.
