Daring Theft At Orphanage: Two More Accused Arrested, Police Intensify Hunt For Larger Gang.

Dharmanagar, Tripura, 26th of April 2026 : A daring theft at an orphanage in the Sonarorbasa Banbari area under Dharmanagar subdivision of North Tripura has created widespread sensation and concern in the locality. As soon as the incident came to light, panic spread across the area, prompting swift action from the Dharmanagar Police.

According to police sources, acting on confidential information, two individuals—Sulaj Mia (34) and Abdul Kalam (42)—were initially arrested on the day of the theft. Based on their interrogation, the police obtained further leads. Following these clues, on April 24, two more accused—Goyes Uddin (50) and Rahul Mia (21)—were arrested from their respective residences in the Bhagypur area.

The Officer-in-Charge of Dharmanagar Police Station stated that the accused attempted to attack the police during the arrest. However, the situation was brought under control, and both were successfully taken into custody.Preliminary investigations suggest that a larger organized gang may be involved in the theft. Police have intensified their efforts to identify and apprehend other members of the network based on ongoing interrogations.Security in the area has been tightened, and the orphanage authorities have been advised to adopt necessary precautionary measures. The police expressed confidence that more arrests will be made soon as the investigation progresses.
