Agartala, Tripura, 25th of April 2026 : The Secretary of the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), Sanjay Jaju, arrived in Agartala on Saturday (25th April, 2026) on a three-day visit to the State.

Later, he visited the archaeological and tourist site of Unakoti, located in Kailashahar. He toured the site and closely observed the remarkable rock-cut sculptures and architectural carvings on the hills. During the visit, he inquired about the measures taken to develop Unakoti as an attractive tourist destination, as well as the work being carried out by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).
He was accompanied by Vivek Goel, Director of the North Eastern Development Department; L.T. Darlong, Secretary of the State Planning Department; and Dr. Tamal Majumder, District Magistrate of Unakoti, among others.
In the afternoon, Secretary of the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), Sanjay Jaju, was accorded a warm reception by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and the Unakoti district administration upon his arrival at Unakoti. After visiting the Shaivite pilgrimage site, he stated that his three-day visit to Tripura began today with the aim of reviewing, on the ground, the ongoing and completed works funded by the Central Government. He expressed admiration for the unique rock-cut architecture and sculptures of the Unakoti heritage site.

Later, the DoNER Secretary visited an agar cultivation village at Phulbari in Dharmanagar, North Tripura district. He interacted with agar cultivators and noted the immense potential of agar cultivation in the state. He also mentioned the formation of a Central Government task force to address the issues faced by agar farmers. He added that several steps are being taken to expand agar cultivation based on the recommendations of the task force.
On Sunday, he is scheduled to visit the Sepahijala Wildlife Sanctuary and inspect PM-DevINE projects at Bishramganj. He will then proceed to Neermahal and visit the Tripura Sundari Temple at Matabari, Udaipur. Following this, he will inspect the Maharani Barrage and later visit Chabimura and the Narikel Kunja at Dumboor.
