Agartala, Tripura, 9th of May 2026 : The Nasha Mukti Club of Bir Bikram Memorial College successfully organized an awareness program titled “Nasha Mukta Bharat Abhiyan” on Friday (May 8, 2026) at 01:00 pm in Room No. 305. The event aimed to educate and sensitize students and faculty members about the serious physical, mental, social, and emotional consequences of addiction & substance abuse. The program was attended by a distinguished panel of guests, faculty members, and students.

The program commenced with felicitation of the guests with traditional risha and bouquet. Dr. Samir Kumar Diabagh, Convener of the Nasha Mukti Club, delivered the welcome address. This was followed by a speech from Dr. Rupak Das, Secretary of the Teachers’ Council, BBM College, who highlighted the role of educational institutions in combating substance abuse.
Dr. Amartya Debnath, District Health Officer, CMO, West Tripura, Mr Amlan Deb, District Consultant, NTCP, West Tripura, delivered insightful speeches. They shared their experiences and provided valuable information on the legal and social ramifications of drug abuse,AIDS and Tobacco as well as the efforts undertaken by law enforcement agencies to curb this menace.

A presidential address by Dr. Mihir Pal, Principal of BBM College, who also reiterated the collective responsibility of society in addressing the issue of drug addiction and encouraged students to lead a drug-free life.
The Programme Concluded with Vote of thanks by Lt. Tapanjyoti Malakar, Associate NCC Officer, Bir Bikram Memorial College.

The event was well-received, with active participation from students and faculty members. It served as an effective platform for disseminating knowledge and fostering a sense of responsibility towards creating a Nasha Mukta Bharat.
