Two Drug Peddlers Arrested In Bagbasa As Police Seize Narcotics Worth ₹1.5 Crore Within 24 Hours.

Dharmanagar, Tripura, 12th of May 2026 : In a major success against drug trafficking, Bagbasa Police under North Tripura district carried out a special anti-narcotics operation in the Bagbasa area of Dharmanagar subdivision and seized a huge quantity of Yaba tablets late Sunday night. Two youths have been arrested in connection with the case.According to police sources, acting on confidential information, police conducted a raid near the Holy Cross School area and recovered a total of 9,800 Yaba tablets from the possession of the accused. The estimated market value of the seized narcotics is around ₹50 lakh.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Abdul Kabir Uddin (30), a resident of Uttar Padmabil under Panisagar Police Station, and Abdul Karim (37), a resident of Sakaibari village in Dharmanagar subdivision. Police also stated that the two accused are related to each other.For a long time, allegations had been raised regarding the active involvement of a drug trafficking network in the area. Based on those inputs, police personnel in plain clothes had been conducting surveillance.

On Sunday night, the two suspects were detained and searched, leading to the recovery of the large consignment of Yaba tablets.Police officials said that interrogation of the accused is currently underway and investigations are being carried out to identify other persons linked to the trafficking network. Bagbasa Police Station has initiated a detailed investigation into the matter.
