Agartala, Tripura, 16th of May, 2026 : Techno India University, Tripura (IUT) celebrated its Foundation Day with great enthusiasm on Friday, (15th May 2026), commemorating the institution’s journey of academic growth, innovation, and cultural engagement. The programme also marked the concluding session of the Painting Workshop organized in collaboration with the North East Zone Cultural Centre (NEZCC), Dimapur, under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. Guided by the vision of Hon’ble Chancellor Prof. Satyam Roy Chowdhury to foster excellence in education alongside cultural and social consciousness, the university organized a vibrant day-long celebration reflecting the institution’s multidimensional growth.

The event was graced by the august presence of Chief Guest Shri Sudhangshu Das, Hon’ble Minister, Fisheries, ARDD. & SC Welfare, Government of Tripura; Guests of Honour Smt. Kalyani Roy, Hon’ble Chief Whip, Tripura Legislative Assembly, and Prof. Arunoday Saha, Padma Shri Awardee and former Vice-Chancellor of Tripura University. Among the distinguished dignitaries present were Shri Abhijit Mukhopadhyay, COO, TIG Kolkata, and Prof. (Dr.) Dhrubajyoti Chattopadhyay, Hon’ble Pro-Chancellor, TIG Universities.
The celebration commenced with the tree plantation programme titled “Grow Your Own Plant” followed by presentation of posters and models by students and an exhibition of artworks created by invited artists and IUT students on the themes “Rabindranath-O-Tripura” and “Science & Technology.”
In his welcome address, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Ratan Kumar Saha stated that TIUT continues to strive towards creating a vibrant academic ecosystem that nurtures creativity, research, cultural consciousness, and social responsibility among students.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Sudhangshu Das appreciated TIUT’s role in advancing higher education in Tripura and encouraging students to participate in cultural and socially meaningful initiatives. He remarked, “Educational institutions must become centres of innovation, culture, and community development, and TIUT is moving forward in that direction with commendable dedication.”
Smt. Kalyani Roy, in her address, praised the university’s emphasis on combining academic excellence with cultural awareness. She stated, “The active participation of students in art, literature, and community-oriented programmes reflects the spirit of holistic education that today’s youth truly need.”
A special highlight of the programme was the release of the university newsletter TIUT Times and the launching of the TIUT Satellite Village initiative. Cultural performances, poetry recitations, musical renditions, and student showcases added vibrancy to the celebration, reflecting the creative spirit of the university community. Academic and co-curricular excellence among students were also recognised through certificate and prize distribution ceremonies held during the programme.
The Foundation Day celebration reflected TIUT’s continuing commitment to blending academic excellence with creativity, innovation, cultural engagement, and social responsibility. Through initiatives encompassing research, arts, student development, and community outreach, the university reaffirmed its vision of holistic education for the next generation of learners. The occasion also marked a renewed step forward as admissions for the 2026-27 academic session are currently ongoing across various programmes offered by the university.
