Dharmanagar, Tripura, 21st of May 2026 : The annual convention of the North District Committee of Voice of Media was held on Wednesday at the hall room of the District Library in Dharmanagar, North Tripura. The programme, centered around journalism, social service, and cultural activities, witnessed the presence of several distinguished personalities from different fields.The chief guest of the event was Jahar Chakraborty, MLA of Dharmanagar. Special guests included Kaushik Adhikari, State President of Voice of Media; Pradip Ghosh, North Zone President; Ajay Pal, South Zone President; and Bappa Chakraborty, member of the State Committee, along with several other members. Distinguished doctor, lawyer, and cultural personality Dipal Das and many eminent personalities from various sections of society were also present.Among those attending the convention were Ramendra Goswami, President of the North District Committee; Soma Das, Secretary; and Utsarga Roy, Treasurer, along with several other members of the North District unit of Voice of Media.
The programme began with a ceremonial watering of plants by the guests as a mark of inauguration. Later, the welcome address was delivered by North District Secretary Soma Das, who highlighted the organisation’s various social and organisational activities, future plans, and the social responsibilities of journalists.During the convention, speakers discussed the important role of the media in contemporary society, the need for responsible journalism, and the duties of the press towards the people. They emphasized that journalists must uphold neutrality, honesty, and human values in order to present the true picture of society.On the occasion, prizes and certificates were distributed to the winners of a drawing competition organized by the Voice of Media North District Committee.
A total of 47 young artists participated in the competition. The guests praised the creativity of the participants and encouraged them to achieve greater success in the future.The annual convention concluded in a vibrant atmosphere in the presence of journalists, cultural enthusiasts, and distinguished guests.
