Dharmanagar, Tripura, 30th of May 2026 : Ahead of World No Tobacco Day to be observed on May 31, a colorful awareness rally was organized in Dharmanagar on Friday. The rally was arranged jointly by the North District Administration and the Tobacco Control Society, with participation from people of various sections of society.

Among those present at the programme were North District Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati Aparna Nath, BK Mamoni, Branch In-Charge of Prajapita Brahma Kumaris Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya in Dharmanagar, along with several other distinguished personalities. A large number of ASHA workers and Anganwadi workers also took part in the rally.The rally began from the premises of the North District Magistrate’s office and moved through several important roads of Dharmanagar town. Participants carried banners and raised slogans promoting the rejection of tobacco and other addictive substances.

Addressing at the event expressed concern over the increasing tendency of substance abuse among the youth in present times. They emphasized that the main objective of the programme is to build a healthy and beautiful society by freeing the younger generation from addiction through moral education, awareness, and social responsibility. Through this awareness rally, a message was spread among the general public regarding the harmful effects of tobacco, along with a call to build a drug-free society.
