Dharmanagar, Tripura, 11th of June 2026 : On specific information of the Border Security Force (BSF) and Dharmanagar Police conducted a joint operation in Ward No. 6 of the Yubarajnagar Assembly constituency in North Tripura’s Dharmanagar subdivision and rescued around 12 cattle allegedly kept for smuggling into Bangladesh.
According to reports, personnel of the 199 Battalion of the BSF, assisted by Dharmanagar Police, launched a search operation in a dense forested area. During the raid, they recovered approximately 12 cattle that had reportedly been concealed there. However, no arrests were made at the spot, police sources said.Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Dharmanagar, Jayanta Karmakar, stated that the rescued cattle are estimated to be worth around ₹6 lakh. He added that the animals have been seized following legal procedures and handed over to a cowshed (gaushala) for further care and necessary action.
The joint operation is being viewed as a significant success in the ongoing efforts of the BSF and police to curb cattle smuggling along the border. The incident has created considerable concern and discussion in Yubarajnagar and nearby areas. Police have launched an investigation to identify and apprehend those involved in the smuggling network.
