Memorandum Submitted By ABRSM Demanding Withdrawal Of Proposal To Make TET Mandatory.

Dharmanagar, Tripura, 18th of June 2026 : Opposing the proposed move to make passing the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) mandatory for retaining the jobs of primary school teachers, the North District TET Movement Committee of the Akhil Bharatiya Rashtriya Shaikshik Mahasangh (ABRSM) submitted a memorandum on Thursday (18th June, 2026) to the Prime Minister of India and the Union Education Minister through the District Magistrate of North Tripura.

In the memorandum, the organization stated that following a recent Supreme Court judgment, uncertainty has arisen regarding the job security of many primary teachers who were appointed before 2010. The possibility of imposing TET qualification as a compulsory condition for continuing in service has created concern among the teaching community.

The organization argued that teachers who have been serving for many years should be given special consideration from humanitarian, legal, and administrative perspectives. Accordingly, it urged the Central Government to intervene and protect the interests of these teachers.

Amidst the other distinguished dignitaries there were Dr. Mousam Bhattacharjee, Coordinator of the North District TET Movement Committee, along with Paritosh Nag, Aravindu Debnath, Manas Dey, Subhash Chandra Nath, and several teachers from different parts of North Tripura district were present at the event. The leaders of the organization expressed hope that the Central Government would take prompt and positive steps to safeguard the interests of the affected teachers.
