Dharmanagar, Tripura, 26th of June 2026 : The birth anniversary of one of Bengal’s greatest novelists, essayists, and the celebrated “Sahitya Samrat” (Emperor of Literature), Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay, was observed with due dignity and solemnity on Friday at Ardhendu Bhattacharya Smriti Bhavan in Dharmanagar. The programme was jointly organized by the Department of Information & Cultural Affairs and the Department of School Education.

The event was attended by Dharmanagar MLA Jahar Chakraborty as the chief guest. Among the distinguished attendees were Deepal Das, member of the District Cultural Advisory Committee; Ripon Chakma, Joint Director of the Department of Information & Cultural Affairs; Samir Ranjan Nath, Officer on Special Duty of the School Education Department; former Headmaster Ripon Chakraborty; and several eminent personalities from the fields of education and culture.The programme commenced with a rendition of “Vande Mataram,” the immortal composition of Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay. The patriotic song, which originated from his classic novel Anandamath, is regarded as a powerful symbol of Indian nationalism and was later adopted as the National Song of India.
