Bishop Lumen Monteiro Inaugurated New Parish.

Amarpur, Tripura, 5th of July 2026 : With the initiative of Holy Cross Diocese the official inauguration programme of the new parish of Holy Family Parish at Tuidu under Ampi block in Gomati Tripura has been conducted today. On this auspicious occasion a large number of dignitaries of the Holy Cross diocese and Catholic Christian people from different regions of the state have assembled here in the event and took participation in the inauguration programme.

In presence of a massive gathering most Rev. Lumen Monteiro the Bishop of Agartala diocese, CSC, D.D has inaugurated the new parish. In front of many dignitaries the Bishop Lumen Monteiro has officially handed over the parish key to father Arbok and prayed for him to generate an appreciable parish management to obtain success of the new parish.

As per the report, a parish is a specific geographic area and its local community within a Christian denomination, served by a priest or pastor. The term also refers to the physical church building and the congregation that gathers there. Beyond religion, it can refer to an administrative region. In denominations like the Catholic, Anglican, and Orthodox churches, a parish is a local territorial division within a larger region called a diocese. It is overseen by a parish priest who is responsible for the spiritual care of the residents and churchgoers within that specific boundary. It is expected that the parish will cherish the Catholic faith in future more extensively and generate peace, harmony and prosperity for the society.

Amidst the other distinguished dignitaries there were Fr. J.K Abraham, CSC, provincial superior of the Holy Cross fathers North East province, inauguration committee members and local believers were remained present in this auspicious programme.
