Agartala, Tripura, 15th July, 2026 : Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Wednesday (15th July, 2026) inaugurated the nine-day traditional Rath Yatra festival at Melaghar, describing it as a symbol of communal harmony and universal celebration that brings people of all faiths together. The festival has been organised jointly by the Sepahijala District Administration, the Information and Cultural Affairs Department and the Melaghar Municipal Council.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said the Rath Yatra promotes cultural exchange and strengthens social bonds among people. He added that both the Central and State governments are implementing various initiatives for the development of religious institutions and tourist destinations across Tripura.

Higher Education Minister Kishore Barman said the Rath Yatra reflects the state’s history, culture, emotions, and social unity, noting that people from all communities have participated in the festival for generations. Sepahijala Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati Supriya Das Dutta and Sonamura SDM Raju Deb also addressed the gathering.

Amidst the others distinguished dignitaries there were MLA Bindu Debnath, Sepahijala District Magistrate Dr. Siddharth Shiv Jaiswal, Superintendent of Police Bijoy Debbarma, and several other dignitaries and social workers were present at the inaugural programme.
