Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) At Press Meet : SIR To Begin From September 5.

Agartala, Tripura, 8th of August, 2026 : In order to make the voters list more transparent, flawless and up-to-date, Special Intensive Revision or SIR 2026 is going to start in the state from September 5. Detailing on the SIR schedule further, the State Chief Electoral Officer Brijesh Pandey today said after the completion of the SIR final voters’ list will be published on December 23.

Today addressing the media the CEO said, as per the direction of the Election Commission of India, this SIR has been taken up for 19 States including Tripura and Union Territories. For this SIR, October 1, 2026 has been fixed as the qualifying date. That means whoever completes 18 years of age on this date will be eligible to be enlisted in the voters’ list. The main objective behind this programme is to identify the dead, relocated or duplicate voters and remove their names, as well to include the new voters and prepare a flawless and reliable voters list.

Detailing on the schedule further the CEO said, from September 15 to October 14 the Booth Level Officers (BLO) will go door-to-door to distribute enumeration forms and help the voters fill the forms. During the door-to-door survey no documents will be collected, only enumeration forms will be filled. The BLOs have been instructed to visit a house at least three times, so that no eligible voter is left out in case of his absence. The voters could also fill the enumeration form online and submit the same through the ECINET App or online portal. If required the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) will notify to submit documents after the draft voter list is published.

He also informed that the draft voter list will be published on October 21. The list will be published on a specific place as well as on the government website. A copy of the same will be provided to the political parties. Afterwards, October 21 to November 20, common citizens will have a chance to incorporate, rectify, claim or complain about enrolment of a particular name. The complaints will be heard till December 19 and once the process is completed, on December 23, the final list will be published.

Referring to the present voter statistics of the state the CEO said, at present 60 Assembly Constituencies of Tripura have around 28.97 lakh voters. Out of this, 14.52 lakh are male and 14.45 lakh are female voters. To conduct the programme smoothly a total of 3,356 BLOS and 375 BLO Supervisors have been engaged for 3,356 polling stations. To facilitate verification of information, the special voter list of 2005 has also been uploaded on the website of the CEO.

The CEO further informed that to conduct the entire process smoothly necessary training of district election officer, electoral registration officer, assistant electoral registration officer, BLO, political parties and booth level agents has been completed. The political parties have also been oriented about the entire process at the state, district and subdivision level.

In order to ensure transparency in the process, all necessary administrative measures have been taken. If anybody is not satisfied with the ERO’s decision then he could approach the District Election Officer first and then appeal to the CEO later. Help Desk will be opened at the district and subdivision level to provide necessary information to the voters. In addition, toll free number will be in operation at the state and district level.

At the press meet, the CEO urged all including the political parties, media and citizens to cooperate to complete the programme successfully. He said, a flawless and reliable voter list can ensure a free, fair and transparent election. That is why he urged all not to listen to any rumour, rather check the official website of the Election Commission and official social media platform to participate in the programme. He said, the aim is to ensure that no genuine voter is left out or any ineligible voter is not there’ in the voter list. The press meet was also attended by the Additional CEO Usha J. Spacial Intensive Revision (SIR) of Electoral Rolls, 2026 Tripura

The Hon’ble Election Commission of India has notified the schedule of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) for 19 States/UTs including Tripura vide Letter dated 14.05.2026. The SIR is being undertaken to ensure that the Electoral Rolls are accurate, inclusive, updated and free from duplicate, shifted, deceased or otherwise ineligible entries.

The objective of SIR is to include every eligible elector and to ensure that no ineligible person is included in the Electoral Roll. The qualifying date for the SIR in Tripura is 01.10.2026. The exercise will start from 05 Sept 2026 and end with final publication of Electoral Roll on 23.12.2026. (Schedule is enclosed as Annexure A).

There are 60 Assembly Constituencies in Tripura covering, 356 polling station. There are approximately 28.97 lakh elector (Male 14.52 lakh, Female 14.45 lakh).

During the SIR exercise, BLOs shall undertake house-to-house visits from. 15.09.2026 to 14.10.2026 to distribute pre-filled Enumeration Forms to existing electors. BLOs will assist electors in completing forms correctly and collect duly filled-in forms. Each BLO shall make three visits to every household

Electors shall verify the pre-filled particulars in the Enumeration Form. furnish the requisite information, sign the completed form and return it to the concerned BLO in time. Electors may also fill up and submit their Enumeration Forms through online portal or the ECINET application.

No document will be collected from electors during the house-to-house Enumeration Phase. Wherever further verification is necessary, the concerned ERO will issue notice after publication of the Draft Roll and provide the elector an opportunity to submit the required documents

The indicative list of documents which can be submitted for supporting claims is enclosed as Annexure B. Aadhaar may be accepted as a document for establishing identity but shall not be treated as proof of citizenship.

The hottestcoal Hall will be published 21.10.2006 at deregguides locations and on the official website. Copies of the Draft Roll will also be provided to recogained political parties.

Claims and objections may be filed during 21.10.2026 to 20.11.2026 after publication of the Draft Roll. The Lists of claims and objections received in Forms 6, 7 and 8 will be displayed in notice board and made available by EROs with recognized political parties. The publication of Final Electoral Roll will be done on 23.12.2026.

Under Section 24 of the Representation of the People Act, 1950, any person aggrieved by a decision of the Electoral Registration Officer may file the first appeal before the District Magistrate & Collector (DEO). A second appeal can be filed before the Chief Electoral Officer.

The Mapping of self and progeny is being carried out by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) by linking with the 2005 Electoral Rolls. The SIR in Tripura was conducted in year 2005, and its Electoral Rolls is uploaded in the CEO’s website. Anyone can check their previous SIR details in the website.

State-level training programs for DEOs, EROS, AEROS, BLOs, political parties and BLAs have already been completed. Overall, 3,356 BLOs and 375 BLO Supervisors will be deployed for the SIR exercise.

State Level meeting with all Political Parties have already been conducted to brief them about the process. The District and Sub-Division level meeting with Political Parties are also being conducted.
