Dharmanagar, Tripura, 17th of August, 2026 : A mass deputation was submitted at the Yubarajnagar Electricity Department on Monday under the initiative of the Yubarajnagar Block Congress, demanding the withdrawal of increased electricity tariffs, cancellation of smart meters, and implementation of six demands.The programme witnessed significant participation from Congress workers and supporters. The deputation raised several demands concerning the interests of ordinary electricity consumers, including the withdrawal of the increased tariffs and cancellation of smart meters.

Congress leaders said that the rise in electricity tariffs was placing additional financial pressure on ordinary people, particularly low-income families. They therefore called for the speedy resolution of electricity-related problems in the public interest.Former Dharmanagar District Congress president Digvijay Chakraborty, Pradesh Congress Committee member Kebal Kanti Nandi, along with several district- and state-level Congress leaders and workers of the Yubarajnagar Block Congress, participated in the mass deputation.
Congress leaders warned that if the six demands raised in the interest of the general public were not addressed promptly, the party would launch a larger movement in the coming days.
