Dharmanagar, Tripura, 20th of August, 2026 : After a lane road remained in a dilapidated condition for a long time, a local resident finally took the initiative to repair it himself. The incident occurred in Ward No. 19 under Dharmanagar Municipal Council.According to local residents, several portions of the road had been damaged for a long time, making it difficult to use. The situation became particularly worse during the monsoon, when rainwater accumulated on the road. Muddy water and large potholes caused considerable inconvenience to pedestrians as well as vehicles.Residents claimed that they had repeatedly informed the Dharmanagar Municipal Council about the condition of the road, but no effective action was taken. Finally, hoping for a lasting solution to the problem, a local resident was compelled to undertake the repair work on his own initiative.

Locals said it was unfortunate that a public road had remained in such a poor condition for so long despite the matter being brought to the attention of the municipal authorities. They alleged that complaints regarding roads, drainage and other civic services in different parts of Dharmanagar Municipal Council had surfaced on several occasions in the past as well.Residents questioned why citizens should have to spend their own money and labour to repair roads used by the general public despite regularly paying municipal taxes and fulfilling other civic responsibilities.
The residents have demanded that the municipal authorities immediately inspect the matter and take effective steps for permanent repair of the road in Ward No. 19, along with resolving other civic problems in the area.
