SIR Process To Begin In West Tripura On September 5.

Agartala, Tripura, 29th of August, 2026 : The process for Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral roll in West Tripura district will begin on September 5, with the final electoral roll scheduled to be published on December 23, District Election Officer and West Tripura District Magistrate Dr Vishal Kumar said on Friday (28th August, 2026). Dr Vishal Kumar made the announcement during a press meet held at the State Guest House today. The ADM of West Tripura and the Sadar Sub-Divisional Magistrate were also present at the programme.

According to the DM West, the SIR process will begin on September 5 with training, planning and preparations for house-to-house verification. Booth Level Officers (BLOS) will visit households and distribute the required forms. The house-to-house exercise will continue from September 15 to October 14. After the verification process, rationalisation of polling stations will be taken up. The draft electoral roll is scheduled to be published on October 21.

After publication of the draft roll, citizeńs will have an opportunity to file claims and objections between October 21 and November 20. The claims and objections will subsequently be heard and disposed of by the Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) during the period from October 21 to December 19. The final electoral roll will be published on December 23.

Dr Vishal Kumar said helpdesks will be set up at the offices of the District Magistrate and Sub-Divisional Magistrates from September 5 to assist citizens during the revision process. He urged people to remain in contact with their respective BLOs and approach the helpdesks whenever they require assistance. He said the main objective of the Special Intensive Revision is to ensure that no eligible citizen is left out of the electoral roll and no ineligible person is included.

West Tripura district has three subdivisions-Sadar, Mohanpur and Jirania and 14 Assembly constituencies. The district has 14 Electoral Registration Officers (EROS), 42 Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), 57 Additional Assistant Electoral.

Registration Officers, 82 BLO Supervisors and 795 Booth Level Officers. The district currently has 795 polling stations. As part of the proposed rationalisation exercise for 2025 and 2026, 67 new polling stations have been proposed. In addition, seven polling station locations have been proposed for change. The total number of electors in West Tripura district is 6,99,429. Of these, 6,38,320 electors, or 91.26 per cent, have been mapped, while 61, 109 electors remain unmapped.

The district administration said a toll-free helpline number, 1950, will also be available to provide assistance to citizens during the SIR process. The district administration has appealed to voters to cooperate with BLOs, participate in the verification process and make use of the helpdesks and helpline to ensure that the electoral roll remains accurate and inclusive.
