Raipur, 4th of September, 2026 : Ramkrishna CARE Cancer Institute has commenced advanced Radiation Oncology services in Raipur, marking an important milestone in strengthening access to comprehensive cancer care for patients across Chhattisgarh and surrounding regions.
With the start of Radiation Oncology, the Institute has further strengthened its multidisciplinary cancer-care programme, bringing together Radiation Oncology, Surgical Oncology and Medical Oncology, supported by advanced diagnostics and specialised treatment facilities under one roof.
For cancer patients, access to radiation therapy closer to home can be particularly important, as treatment may require multiple sessions over several weeks. The availability of advanced Radiation Oncology services in Raipur will allow eligible patients to undergo diagnosis, multidisciplinary treatment planning, radiation therapy and follow-up within an integrated cancer-care ecosystem, helping reduce the physical, emotional and logistical burden associated with travelling to other cities for specialised treatment.
Radiation therapy is an important component of cancer treatment and may be used independently or in combination with surgery, chemotherapy and other treatment modalities, depending on the type, location and stage of cancer. The availability of Radiation Oncology services at Ramkrishna CARE Cancer Institute will enable patients to receive coordinated treatment planning and care through a multidisciplinary approach.

Advanced Radiation Oncology Infrastructure
The newly operational Radiation Oncology department is equipped with an advanced Linear Accelerator (LINAC) designed to deliver high-precision radiation therapy. It is first LINAC of central india equipped with AI intelligence. The system supports advanced radiation techniques including Image-Guided Radiation Therapy (IGRT) , Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy (IMRT), Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS) and Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT).
The installed Versa HD system is designed to provide submillimeter end-to-end accuracy for stereotactic treatments, supporting precise treatment of complex and challenging tumours. A key objective of precision radiation therapy is to accurately deliver the prescribed radiation dose to the tumour while minimising unnecessary exposure to surrounding healthy tissues.
The system enables radiation beams to be delivered from multiple angles around the patient, concentrating the prescribed dose on the intended target while protecting surrounding healthy tissue as far as possible.
Precision Treatment Supported by Advanced Imaging
The Radiation Oncology facility is supported by advanced treatment-planning, imaging and patient-positioning technologies. The system provides 2D, 3D and 4D imaging capabilities and supports 4D Image-Guided Radiotherapy, helping clinicians visualise and accurately target small and moving tumours. It has revolutionary ABC system which tracks moving surface and tumor with respect to breath and enables to do high end treatments like DIBH ( deep inspiratory Breath hold ) cardiac sparing technique for fleft sided breast tumor , lung , liver and pancreas SBRT.
These capabilities are particularly relevant for tumours affected by physiological movement, such as those in the lungs.
High-resolution beam-shaping technology further enables radiation delivery to be adapted closely to the treatment target. It has a virtual 1 mm MLC as compared to conventional 5-10 mm MLC in ordinary LINACs for most precise treatments. It can treat very small and multiple stereotactic targets. Integrated quality-assurance capabilities covering treatment planning, patient dosimetry and machine performance further support accuracy throughout the radiation-delivery process.
Comprehensive Cancer Care Under One Roof
The commencement of Radiation Oncology services complements the broader cancer-care infrastructure established at Ramkrishna CARE Cancer Institute.
The Institute brings together Surgical Oncology, Medical Oncology and Radiation Oncology, supported by an AI-enabled PET-CT, dedicated Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) suites, Day-Care Chemotherapy facilities and a dedicated Tumour Board for multidisciplinary cancer-treatment planning.
This integrated approach enables specialists across different oncology disciplines to jointly evaluate patients and develop individualised treatment plans based on the type and stage of cancer and each patient’s clinical requirements.
Dr. Sandeep Dave, Medical & Managing Director, Ramkrishna CARE Hospitals, said, “Our larger goal is to strengthen Chhattisgarh’s cancer-care capabilities so that more patients can access comprehensive and advanced treatment within the state. Cancer care often requires multiple specialists and treatment modalities to work together, and patients should not have to travel long distances to access them. With Radiation Oncology now joining Surgical Oncology, Medical Oncology, PET-CT, chemotherapy, BMT and other specialised services at Ramkrishna CARE Cancer Institute, we are building a more complete cancer-care ecosystem in Raipur, from diagnosis and treatment planning to therapy and follow-up. For patients and their families across Chhattisgarh, this means advanced cancer care closer to home.”
Radiation Oncology Services Led by Dr. Gourav Gupta
The Radiation Oncology department is headed by Dr. Gourav Gupta, MBBS, MD (Radiation Oncology), Senior Consultant & Head – Radiation Oncology, Ramkrishna CARE Hospital, Raipur.
Dr. Gupta brings over 16 years of experience in cancer care, with expertise in precision radiotherapy, brachytherapy and advanced techniques including IGRT, IMRT, SRS, SRT and SBRT. He will lead the Radiation Oncology programme as part of the Institute’s multidisciplinary cancer-care team.
Dr. Gourav Gupta said, “Modern radiation oncology is increasingly about precision — delivering the required radiation dose accurately to the tumour while protecting surrounding healthy tissues as much as possible. Advanced imaging and techniques such as IGRT, SRS and SBRT allow us to treat even small, complex and moving tumours with a high degree of accuracy. More importantly, every treatment management plan is individualised and developed with tumor board approach in coordination with our surgical and medical oncology teams, so that patients receive the most appropriate treatment for their specific condition.”
Strengthening Access to Cancer Care in Chhattisgarh
The commencement of Radiation Oncology services represents a significant addition to the cancer-care capabilities of Ramkrishna CARE Cancer Institute. With radiation therapy now operational alongside Surgical and Medical Oncology and other specialised cancer-care facilities, the Institute is positioned to provide a comprehensive continuum of oncology services, from diagnosis and staging to treatment planning, therapy and follow-up.
For patients in Raipur and across Chhattisgarh, the development means greater access to specialised radiation treatment as part of an integrated cancer-care programme, helping reduce the need to travel outside the region for advanced treatment.
With the commencement of Radiation Oncology services, Ramkrishna CARE Cancer Institute continues to strengthen its commitment to providing comprehensive, technology-enabled and multidisciplinary cancer care closer to home.
