Sonamura, Tripura, 6th of September, 2026 : Sonamura Police arrested a suspected drug peddler on Saturday (5th September, 2026), for allegedly being involved in the illegal sale and distribution of narcotic substances. The arrest was made as part of an ongoing crackdown on the illegal drug trade in the area.
According to Sonamura Police att the time of his arrest, police seized ₹15,930 in Indian currency, which was reportedly suspected to be proceeds from the illegal sale and purchase of narcotic substances. In addition, 30 empty containers were seized, which were allegedly used as containers for Yaba tablets and heroin.
Sonamura Police are conducting a detailed interrogation of the arrested drug peddler to uncover the wider network behind the illegal trade. Several significant names have reportedly emerged during the investigation, and their alleged links to the drug network are being verified by intelligence officials. Appropriate action will be taken against those found involved on the basis of concrete evidence.
