Mumbai, Maharashtra, 26th of September, 2026 : Oye Chill Maar is a light film that brings together romance, comedy and family drama without making things too complicated. It has a relaxed feel to it, but there are a few emotional moments that give the story more meaning than just being a casual entertainer.
One of the interesting parts of the film is its take on social media. The story shows how quickly things can change once something becomes public online. It also captures the pressure young people face when their personal lives are constantly open for opinions and judgement. The film makes its point without spending too much time preaching about it.
The family angle is where the film becomes more emotional. The story looks at parents, children and the effect that childhood experiences can have on a person. These portions feel more personal and add a nice balance to the fun parts of the film.
Shrey Pareek and Tejas Dev bring a youthful energy to the story. Their performances suit the lighter tone, while Shikha Pandey and Prachi Bansal handle their parts well. Atul Tiwari stands out in the family portions and adds some seriousness when the story needs it. Sujeet Asthana, Prashant Mohite and Sufia Tanweer also add to the film without making the cast feel crowded.
The comedy works better when it comes from the characters and their situations. Not every joke hits, but there are enough funny moments to keep the mood going. The romantic portions are also fairly easy to watch. Laal Dupatta adds another lively moment and fits nicely into the film.
The film does slow down in a few places. With a runtime of around two hours and twenty minutes, some scenes could have been shortened to keep the pace tighter. This is noticeable in parts of the second half, although the film manages to pick itself up again.
Nitin M. Rokade keeps the treatment straightforward as writer, director and editor. He does not try to make the film unnecessarily heavy or dramatic. That simple approach suits the story, especially when it moves between comedy and family emotions.
Oye Chill Maar has a few rough edges, but it remains an enjoyable watch. It has enough laughs, emotion and relatable situations to keep things moving, and it leaves you with a pleasant feeling by the end.
