Agartala, Tripura, 1st of October, 2026 : The Department of Hindi, Tripura University in association with the Bharatiya Bhasha Manch, organised a one-day seminar titled “Hindi: Kal, Aaj Aur Kal” on Wednesday (30th September, 2026). The programme began at 11:30 a.m. with the arrival of the guests on stage, followed by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp. The university anthem was then performed by third-semester postgraduate students.
In her welcome address, Dr. Bina Debbarma greeted the guests, faculty members, research scholars and students, and outlined the seminar’s structure and objectives. She said that serious discussion on the past, present and future of Hindi is the need of the hour. Students of the department then presented poetry recitations, and one student performed a dance.
During the programme, the e-edition of the department’s wall magazine was released. The guests described it as a meaningful initiative that gives students’ creativity a wider platform. Speakers said the digital edition would allow the magazine to reach a larger readership and give students’ writing talent fresh recognition.
Prof. Milan Rani Jamatia, Head of the Department of Hindi, who was the keynote speaker, congratulated Dr. Alok Kumar Pandey, editor of the magazine and convener of the seminar, on the publication of the e-edition. She said the department had been academically enriched by having such a young faculty member. She also congratulated the research scholars and students associated with the magazine, praised their efforts and encouraged them to remain creative.

Dr. Kali Charan Jha, speaking as a distinguished guest, gave a detailed account of the status of Hindi as the official language. He discussed its present position, achievements and challenges, and stressed the need to strengthen the use of Hindi in administration and official work.
Dr. Shankar Nath Tiwari, who delivered the Saraswat address, shared his views on the current state of Hindi. He said the future belongs to Hindi, and, noting its growing acceptance and expanding reach, expressed optimism about its prospects.
Dr. Manoj Kumar Maurya, the second distinguished speaker, traced the development of Hindi journalism. Highlighting key milestones in its history, he encouraged students to take up writing and study. He said journalism has played a vital role in the growth of Hindi.
In his presidential address, Prof. Vinod Kumar Mishra, Dean of the Faculty of Arts, said Hindi is taught at hundreds of universities around the world. He said every day should be observed in the spirit of Hindi Diwas, as only then would true respect for the language be shown. He also congratulated the department on organising the event.
The programme was compered by Ms. Munni Chakma and Ms. Raktima Deka. Dr. Alok Kumar Pandey delivered the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all the guests, speakers and attendees. Faculty members, research scholars and a large number of students were present.
