Agartala, Tripura, 1st of October, 2026 : The government aims to save life in road accident cases. The Government of India with a similar aim launched ‘Rah Veer’ scheme in 2025 so that citizens could be encouraged to step forward for helping those in distress due to road accident. on Wednesday (30th September, 2026) at the video conference hall of the state secretariat, the Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury said this while addressing the District Magistrates virtually. The DMs of all districts attended the ‘Rah Veer’ Award giving ceremony virtually.

The Transport Minister said, many lives can be saved provided medical attention is ensured within one hour of an accident. Rah Veer Award is given to such people who take initiative to transport the accident victim to the healthcare facilities in the golden hour or within one hour of the incident. In the state also Rah Veer Award is being provided to encourage people to take such initiative. At the video conference hall Certificate and cheque worth Rs. 25,000 each were handed over to eight recipients of Rah Veer Award 2026. Among them two were awarded jointly. The awardees included five from Gomati district, two from Dhalai district and one from Unakoti district.

Among others present on the occasion were PWD secretary Kiran Gitte, finance secretary Prashant Kumar Goyal, urban development secretary Dr. Milind Ramteke, higher education director Animesh Debbarma, transport commissioner Subrata Chowdhury, SP, Traffic (West) Kanta Jangir and other officials.
