Jampuijala, Tripura, 2nd of October, 2026 : A promising transformation is taking place in the agricultural sector of Jampuijala, where scientific farming practices, continuous field-level support and collective efforts under the Tripura Rural Economic Growth and Service Delivery Project (TRESP) are helping Producer Groups (PGs) improve productivity and generate sustainable income.
The Tangbiti Producer Group of Dayarampara VC has emerged as a notable example of this progress through successful cucumber cultivation. By adopting Package of Practices (POP), including mulching, pheromone traps and yellow sticky traps, the PG members have achieved encouraging results in both production and income generation.
One of the PG members, Smt. Kum Kum Debbarma, has so far sold 1,852 kg of cucumber through 16 pickings, generating an income of ₹1,11,120. Harvesting is still continuing, indicating further scope for production and income. Another member, Smt. Snadhyarani Debbarma, has sold 447 kg of cucumber and earned ₹26,905, with harvesting also continuing in her field.

The success reflects the growing adoption of scientific agricultural practices among farmers and the increasing focus on market-oriented cultivation under TRESP. The use of improved crop management practices is helping farmers enhance production while reducing crop-related risks and improving the quality of their produce.
Recently, the Marketing Specialist, TSA and Agri-Entrepreneur Specialist of TRESP visited the cucumber fields and interacted with the PG members. Discussions focused on cultivation practices, production, harvesting, marketing and the challenges faced by farmers. Such field-level interactions are helping strengthen the link between technical support and the practical needs of Producer Groups.

The TRESP Jampuijala Cluster Coordinator has also been playing an important role in addressing the day-to-day issues and challenges faced by the PGs, ensuring timely coordination and support at the grassroots level.
The progress of TRESP Jampuijala has been further strengthened by the dynamic teamwork under BPM Jhuton Ghosh. Since the beginning of project implementation, the coordinated efforts of the BPM, Cluster Coordinator, field-level functionaries, technical specialists and PG members have contributed to steady progress in agriculture and livelihood interventions.
The Tangbiti PG experience demonstrates how knowledge, scientific farming practices, continuous handholding and market-oriented approaches can translate into tangible livelihood opportunities for rural farming communities.

With continued field support and greater adoption of scientific cultivation methods, TRESP Jampuijala is creating a strong foundation for sustainable agriculture, enhanced farm income and resilient rural livelihoods.
