Khowai, Tripura, 6th of October, 2026 : Vote counting began across various parts of the state from Monday morning for the declaration of results of the Village Council elections in the ADC areas. As per the scheduled programme, counting of votes for the Village Councils under Tulashikhar RD Block in Khowai district also commenced at 8:00 AM.
Security arrangements were tightened outside the designated Bharat Sardar School counting centre, with police putting up barricades around the premises. However, after 8:00 AM, the situation outside the counting centre reportedly turned tense for some time. It was alleged that supporters of a political party attempted to breach the police barricades, creating a situation that was reportedly seen as a violation of the election code of conduct.

To bring the situation under control, the police and central security forces subsequently intervened jointly. It was alleged that a lathi-charge was carried out on the agitated crowd during the incident. Around 10 to 12 people, including women, were reportedly injured. The injured were promptly taken to Khowai District Hospital, where they are currently undergoing treatment.
During the unrest, DSP Arghyadeep Deb suffered serious injuries after reportedly being struck by a slingshot-propelled object and was subsequently taken for medical treatment.
