Sports Activities Are Not Just For Entertainment, But Are Also Necessary For Human Physical And Mental Wellbeing : Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha.

Agartala, Tripura, 10th of October, 2026 : Youth should be more involved in sports activities to build a drug-free beautiful society. Sports activities are not just for entertainment, but are also necessary for human physical and mental wellbeing. Current government is supportive to sports. Chief Minister Dr. Manik saha said on Thursday (8th October, 2026) while interacting with the media persons at the closing and prize distribution ceremony of Chandra Memorial Football League organized by Shyam Sundar Co. Jewellers at the Umakanta mini-stadium. In the Chandra Memorial Football League ‘Agiye Chalo Sangha’ turned out to be the champion.

Speaking on the occasion the Chief Minister said, in order to engage he youth and students in sports the government has developed and expanded sports infrastructure in the state. For that purpose astro-turfs have been installed in different places across the state. He said, football is a popular game. In order to encourage the newcomers in this game, initiative has been taken to organize friendly match in the sate with the nationally acclaimed teams. He said, sports talent can also be observed among the tribal youth. The government wants them to earn more fame and name in the field of sports. As a sign of respect to the veteran sports persons of the state, different tracks and galleries are being named after them. All should come forward to thrust the state forward in sports. In order to develop a drug-free Tripura, the government is following zero-tolerance policy. And sports are the best means to achieve this target.

In the Chandra Memorial Football League’s closing match ‘Agiye Chalo Sangha’ landed against Kalyan Samiti. The Chief Minister handed over the trophy and a cheque worth Rs. 1 lakh to the winning team. Besides, the guests presented runners-up prizes also. Among other guests were present the president of Tripura Football Association Pranab Sarkar, and the Dicroter of Shyam Sundar Co. Jewellers Rupak Saha and Arpita Saha.
