Sabroom, Tripura, 26th of October, 2026 : The motor of a solar-powered irrigation pump installed under an irrigation project was stolen from Majumder Para, near Takia Bari, under Indira Nagar Gram Panchayat in Sabroom. The affected farmer has made an earnest appeal for government assistance to protect his agricultural land and save his crops.

An unfortunate theft incident has been reported from Majumder Para in the Indranagar area of Sabroom. Farmer Khirohan Debnath stated that he visits his agricultural land every morning to switch off and check the irrigation pump. However, when he arrived at the field on Monday (26th October, 2026) morning, he discovered that the motor of his irrigation water pump had been stolen.

Due to the ongoing dry spell and lack of rainfall, the demand for irrigation water has increased significantly. He stated that the solar-powered pump was used to regularly irrigate his own paddy fields, covering more than four bighas, as well as approximately 20–25 bighas of agricultural land in the surrounding area.

With the motor stolen, the farmer and other local cultivators are now facing the risk of losing their entire crops during the ongoing dry spell. In this situation, the affected farmer has made an earnest appeal to the government authorities to arrange a replacement motor so that he and other farmers can protect their agricultural land and save their crops.
