Dharmanagar, Tripura, 29th of October, 2026 : Tilthai Primary Health Centre has been facing problems for a long time due to an inadequate number of doctors and nursing staff. The health centre caters to the healthcare needs of people from around eight Gram Panchayats. With services being run for a long time with just two doctors and three nurses, routine healthcare services are being affected. As a result, many patients and their families are being deprived of adequate medical care.
Prashanta Debnath, Chairman of the Jan Arogya Samiti of Tilthai Primary Health Centre, has now raised his voice demanding an increase in the number of doctors and nurses at the facility. He has demanded the appointment of at least three doctors and five nurses in the interest of providing proper healthcare to the general public.Debnath alleged that the shortage of doctors and nurses had been brought to the attention of the North District Health Officer on several occasions in the past. However, despite repeated appeals, the Health Department has yet to take any effective steps to address the issue.

Meanwhile, dissatisfaction among local residents is growing as the health centre, which serves as a major source of medical care for people from eight Gram Panchayats, continues to function with inadequate staff. Residents have called for the urgent appointment of doctors and nurses to restore normal healthcare services.Prashanta Debnath has made it clear that if their demands are not met soon, they will be compelled to launch a larger protest in the coming days. He has also warned that, if necessary, they will approach the Chief Minister seeking a solution to the problem. It remains to be seen when the Health Department will take effective steps to resolve the issue in the interest of providing proper healthcare to the general public.
