Assam, 15th of January 2024 : Magh Bihu or Bhogali Bihu is a harvest festival celebrated in Assam on Monday (15th January, 2024). A bonfire (Meji) is lit for the ceremonial conclusion and prayer to the God of Fire. The festival is a regional variance of Makar Sankranti. Its festival marks the end of harvesting season in the Bengali moth of Magh. This is a festival of joy and happiness. According to Bengali Panjika, this event is celebrated on the first day of the month of Magh. This is a Sankrati ceremony in Assam, whih is known as Magh Bihu. On this special Sankranti occasion women prepared different kinds delicious food items. Magh Bihu is one of the most important festivals of Assamese. During the Magh Bihu festival, people offer prayers to Lord Agni Devta for well being the family members and guests on this occasion. Agnidev, is the lord of fire.
