Khowai, 8th of July, 2024 : A 17-year-old youth committed suicide by drinking poison after being beaten by the owner of a welding house in Paharmura Bazar and not being able to bear the insults for ₹1000. The incident occurred in Padmbil area, Khowai on Monday (8th July, 2024). According to the details of the incident, Shantanu Das, an eleventh class student, was insulted by Chandan Bhowmik, the owner of the welding house in Paharmura Bazar area, and suddenly drank poison absence of his family.
Later, family members found him and immediately took him to Khowai District Hospital. The doctor on duty referred to GBP Hospital, Agartala as his condition was serious. But Shantanur was not saved in the end. His frozen body arrived at his home in Padmabil area on Monday. His mother, father, younger brother, others relatives and common people of the area broke down in tears. A shadow of grief of her unexpected death has spread over the whole area.
