Bangladesh, 8th of August, 2024 : Nobel laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus took the oath of office as Chief of Bangladesh’s interim Government at Bangabhaban, the official residence of the President in Dhaka on Thursday (8th August, 2024). Hon’ble President of Bangladesh Mohammed Shahabuddin administered the oath to Professor Muhammad Yunus as the Chief Adviser of the interim Government. Foreign diplomats, civil society members, senior officials and many other dignitaries were present in the taking oath ceremony.

“My best wishes to Professor Muhammad Yunus on the assumption of his new responsibilities. We hope for an early return to normalcy, ensuring the safety and protection of Hindus and all other minority communities. India remains committed to working with Bangladesh to fulfill the shared aspirations of both our peoples for peace, security and development.”, Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi tweeted.
